The brains behind Avalanche Coffee, which recently came out top-taking away the Supreme Winner prize-at the New Zealand Coffee Awards, are Stefan Marusich and Paul Tobin, for whom being fired from their telesales jobs just after university was a blessing in disguise. Being out on their ear drove them forward to start out doing exactly what they wanted, and once they got experience with their plumbed in water cooler business, which they later sold at a considerable profit to Just Water, they were able to establish Avalanche Coffee.

Here at The Water Cooler Company, we like to think we’ve always kept it real, just like Stefan and Paul. It has been hard graft and lots of learning along the way which has meant that our service is top-notch, and delivers what the client wants and needs. It’s also this fact that makes us humble and able to get you your plumbed in water cooler with a smile. If you’d like to experience our service, or would just like to ask us a few questions, please do get in touch and one of our team will be on hand to help. We look forward to hearing from you!

As we know, setting them off on the right foot is essential, and teaching and encouraging good habits from an early age can make a huge difference to a child’s life. Here at The Water Cooler Company, we believe that our range of plumbed in water cooler units allows families all over the UK to build up good drinking habits- that is, making sure everyone gets their recommended eight glasses per day, with fresh, delicious water on tap (hoho) whenever anyone should so desire it. It’s not only the health of everyone in the family that the plumbed in water cooler can make a difference to; without the use of plastic bottles-instead filtering water directly from the mains- you’ll be helping the environment by cutting back on the use of expendable resources. Now THAT’S what makes us feel really good inside.

If you’d like more information about our plumbed in water cooler service, please do get in touch and one of our team will be on hand to help.

Not only this, but sterilising units have also been installed, allowing the authority’s catering arm Manchester Fayre to hygienically refill bottles with tap water for use in board meetings and the like. Some bottles are still in circulation, however, as several of the council’s buildings do not allow plumbed in water cooler set-up, owing to the make up of their structures. Since this has been done, spending has been reduced to £26, 500 on water in 2009, with hopes that the cost will be slashed in half again for 2010.

If you’re curious as to how much money your business could save with a plumbed in water cooler, and about how much you’ll be helping the environment by cutting down on the amount of waste plastic you produce, please do get in touch, and one of The Water Cooler Company team will be on hand to help. Or, if you’re feeling really adventurous, visit our website, for an easy-to-use saving calculator. It really is good fun in your lunch hour.

We are active recyclers in our local areas, and switch off the lights when we leave the room. Of course, it’s not only the plumbed in water cooler team that work hard at this- our sister company, The Water Delivery Company also love to reuse their plastic water bottles that they supply, and it was they that gave us this clever tip about how to reuse your bottle caps to reseal plastic bags:

All you need to do is take some scissors, and cut around the neck of an old plastic water bottle, leaving some of the plastic intact, about 3cms around the cap itself.

Stick the bunched up top of a plastic bag/food freezer bag through the cap, fold the cap over the neck, and screw the lid back on. Hey presto, a sealed bag, ready to be transported anywhere!

To share your own innovative plastic bottle uses, or to find our more about our plumbed in water cooler service, please do get in touch, and one of our team will be on hand to help.

We caught up with our pal Mary Cohen, captain of the British fencing team, to see how she fits 8 glasses into her daily routine.

8am: To the gym for a workout- I always take a bottle with me, which I can fill up from the plumbed in water cooler on site. It’s important to hydrate both before and after exercising.

12pm: Lunch- a light sandwich, a fruit smoothie, and another big glass of water. It just makes me feel so much better when I drink it!

2pm: In the library looking for some Italian language books, which I’m also taking classes in. With so much travelling, it’s useful to know another language.

5pm: Training- this is where the hardcore water-drinking begins, and I need to make sure I continue sipping throughout the session.

To find out how Mary and the rest of team GB do in the games this year, or for more information about our plumbed in water cooler service, please do get in touch and one of our team will be on hand to anger any questions you may have.

Of course, this experience can be greatly enhanced with a) a decent biscuit, and b) a good book. Because of this, this week we’re dedicating our time to recommending some of our fave reads, that you too might enjoy during your own quiet time:

Man and Boy: The novel that made Tony Parsons famous is funny, moving and poignant, and takes a great look at what it really takes to be a parent. A must for anyone who has ever been born.

The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao: A tale of a boy growing up in the Dominican Republic, facing the trials of being different, and dealing with a complicated family life. Don’t be put off by the thousands of footnotes.

The Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook: Although not strictly written to be read as a novel, this is must for any baking fans. And if you don’t like words, the pictures are stunning and mouth-watering. Perfect for all tastes.

We’ve recently discovered that the idea of bringing joy into the lives of others through a unique office water cooler design has been taken to another level; the animal desktop water cooler has arrived, and they’re just too cute to resist. Whether you like pigs, ducks, monkeys, or indeed some sort of blue, non-descript creature, these miniature fellows will provide endless fun for you and your colleagues (as well as produce a lot of envy on their part) as they proudly sit on your work station.

We’re sure it’s only a matter of time until we hoist ourselves onto this mini water cooler bandwagon, but if in the mean time you’d like to find out a little more about our service, and how we can get a plumbed in water cooler installed and running in your office in next to no time, please do get in touch and one of our team will happily answer any questions you may have. We’re also taking votes on our favourite animal, if you’d like to join in with that. Thanks.
